Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

This blog is to give you an easy way to offer suggestions for future seminars, comments on seminars you have taken this year or in the past, and to post your thoughts on any  topic that you think your colleagues and the TAS staff would be interested in.  The blog also give me the opportunity to post announcements about the program.  For example, we had advertised study trips to Madrid and Cuba this year.  Unfortunately, the feds did not see fit to give TAS a license for the Cuba trip as "professional development of teachers" fell outside their guidelines. Bewildering.  Although Obama has a more friendly view towards Cuba, I think the bureaucracy is very slow(and quite resistant) to change.  I will try for Cuba again next year and frame it as a "research trip" and see if it will fly that way.  And the Madrid trip will not go as I didn't get enough interest to make it work financially. The Provence trip (The Art of Provence) will take place. There are still a few openings if you are interested in participating. Please email me asap at henry@teachersasscholars.org and I will send you the details of the trip that is scheduled for July 16-26 in La Napoule, France.

On another topic, some info about next year's program.  We have ramped up our offerings in the life sciences and math and generally refreshed the program with many new topics and instructors. I think we will have a wide range of interesting offerings in the arts, sciences and humanities in 2010-2011.

I hope that you find this blog useful and that you will add your thoughts and comments.

Best,

Henry Bolter

Director, TAS
